What to expect: Step-by-step

When every second counts, knowing what to expect can help you stay calm.

#1: Call us

If you’re unsure if your pet needs urgent or emergency care, our team can triage their condition over the phone. This helps our team prepare for your pet’s arrival (in an emergency) or plan for their appointment (urgent care).

#2: Admission

If your pet is in distress, they’ll be taken to treatment right away. Our care coordinators will escort you to an exam room and gather additional information. If your pet is stable or is here for urgent care, they’ll be seen in order of priority.

#3: Care

Your pet’s veterinarian and care team will keep you informed of their condition and any recommended testing, procedures, or treatments—many of which can be performed on site. For advanced or specialty services, your pet may be referred to another veterinary care facility.

During discharge, you’ll receive detailed information about any medications, at-home care, or follow-up appointments.

Still unsure? Our team is happy to discuss your pet’s condition over the phone. Call us at (530) 671-3014 for assistance.

FAQs

How long will I have to wait for my pet to be seen?

Emergency patients are triaged in order of urgency so that pets with life-threatening injuries can receive timely care. Urgent care patients are often seen between scheduled appointments. We understand that waiting can be stressful and make every effort to provide prompt care, but wait times will vary based on the volume and urgency of other cases.

Do I need to call ahead when bringing my pet in for an emergency or urgent care?

Although not required for emergencies, we do recommend calling ahead whenever possible to help us prepare for your pet’s arrival. This can save precious time in an emergency.

Do you perform emergency surgery?

Our facility and team are equipped to handle many common emergency procedures, including stabilization of critical patients, pyometra (infected uterus) surgery, emergency C-section, bloat correction, amputation, foreign body removal, and more.
