Supporting pet health with answers and expertise
From routine screenings to specialized testing for illnesses, injuries, and emergencies, Davies Animal Medical Hospital is equipped to provide skilled assessment, short-term hospitalization, and treatment for a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
In-house laboratory testing
Our on-site lab allows us to perform an array of diagnostic testing, including blood work, urinalysis, dermatological (skin) testing, ear cytology, and more. Rapid, accurate results support faster, more precise treatment for your pet.
Advanced imaging
State-of-the-art imaging provides a non-invasive assessment of your pet’s anatomy and organ function. From routine screenings to emergencies, on-site imaging informs your pet’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
While imaging can often be performed with only gentle restraint, light sedation may be necessary to help anxious pets relax.
Digital X-ray
High-resolution digital X-rays are the preferred method for evaluating bones, joints, and the chest, as well as certain gastrointestinal conditions. Digital X-rays use focused imaging technology to limit unnecessary exposure and provide instant, detailed images for accurate evaluation.
Ultrasound
Ultrasonography uses sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs and structures. This gentle, non-invasive technique can be used to rapidly triage emergency patients, screen sick pets for tumors or obstructions, and evaluate organ function in healthy or ill pets.
Cardiac ultrasound
Our in-house cardiac ultrasound allows us to assess how your pet’s heart looks and functions, including blood flow, valve appearance and movement, heart wall thickness, and the health of the tissue surrounding the heart (pericardium).
Specialist interpretation
When appropriate, your pet’s images can be electronically submitted to a board-certified veterinary radiologist for further review.
Hospitalization and monitoring
If your pet’s condition requires close monitoring and care, our team and facility are equipped to provide daytime hospitalization and observation.
Rest assured, hospitalized pets receive skilled care, treatments, and monitoring tailored to their status, diagnosis, and needs. This can include:
- Nutritional support (nasogastric feeding tubes, esophagostomy tubes)
- Vital sign assessment
- Supplemental oxygen
- IV medications and fluids
- Pain management
- Knowledgeable, compassionate care from a highly-trained team
- Visitors (by appointment)
Any changes in or concerns about your pet’s condition are immediately relayed to the veterinarian in charge for prompt attention and intervention.
