Davies Animal Medical Hospital is a renowned, privately owned, and family-focused small animal practice, led by Dr. Janna Perez, an adjunct professor at Western University of Health Sciences. While we are a general practice, we manage a significant number of urgent care, emergency cases, internal medicine, and surgical procedures, among other specialized services.

Our state-of-the-art facility includes advanced radiology, a fully equipped surgical suite, a dedicated treatment area, a comprehensive dental department, and an in-house laboratory, ensuring we provide top-tier care for our patients.
Program Structures
Two Week Rotation
Week 1: Surgery
We work closely with local rescues and you can expect to perform at least 20-30 cat spays/neuters during your rotation.
Week 2: Shadow and Surgery
Under the supervision of your mentor, you will be:
- Performing examinations
- Assisting in surgery and dental procedures
- Aiding in medical records
- Practicing invaluable communication and interpersonal skills
Three Week Rotation
Week 1: GP Urgent Care
- Perform CPR
- Laceration repairs
- Work up toxicology cases/complex cases
- Learn how to appropriately triage emergency cases
Week 2: Shadow and Surgery
We work closely with local rescues and you can expect to perform at least 20-30 cat spays/neuters during your rotation.

- Aiding in medical records

Week 4: Shadow GP Urgent Care/Appointments

- Perform CPR

- Work up toxicology cases/complex cases
- Learn how to appropriately triage emergency cases

- Performing examinations
- Assisting in surgery and dental procedures
- Aiding in medical records
- Practicing invaluable communication and interpersonal skills
By the end of the rotation, you will have improved your diagnostic and surgical skills, learned different treatment modalities, improved your communication skills, and most importantly, developed confidence!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for eager and enthusiastic students wanting to learn and aid with patient care while upholding the professional and ethical standards of our practice. You must be enrolled in an accredited DVM program and a 3rd or 4th year veterinary student.
